DESCRIPTION:﻿\n\nSpeaker: Dr. Sheryl Green\, Associate Professor\, Psych
 iatry &amp\; Behavioural Neurosciences\, McMaster University\n\nDr. Green 
 is a Clinical and Health Psychologist within the Women's Health Concerns C
 linic and Sleep Medicine Clinic at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton\, ON. 
 She is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Beh
 avioural Neurosciences at McMaster University and Co-Director of Clinical 
 Training for the PhD program in Clinical Psychology\, Department of Psycho
 logy. Dr. Green's clinical area of expertise include anxiety disorders\, m
 ood disorders\, and insomnia. She is a Fellow of the Canadian Association 
 of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies and provides education and training
  in the use of cognitive behavioural interventions. Her research is suppor
 ted by provincial and federal funding and primarily focuses on women’s h
 ealth and the development of CBT protocols tailored to meet the unique nee
 ds of specialized populations. Dr. Green has published numerous research a
 rticles\, is the author of two books (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Anx
 iety and Depression During Pregnancy and Beyond: How to Manage Symptoms an
 d Maximize Well-Being &amp\; The Cognitive Behavioral Workbook for Menopau
 se: A Step by Step Program for Overcoming Hot Flashes\, Mood Swings\, Inso
 mnia\, Depression\, Anxiety\, and Other Symptoms)\, and has presented her 
 research widely.\n\nTalk summary:\n\nAlthough the menopausal transition is
  a natural event that every woman who reaches the middle-age stage of life
  will experience\, it is often accompanied by adverse physical (e.g.\, vas
 omotor symptoms\, sleep difficulties\, sexual concerns) and emotional (e.g
 .\, anxiety\, depression) changes that significantly impact functioning an
 d overall quality of life. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is emerging
  as an effective nonpharmacological treatment for menopausal symptoms as e
 ither a complementary or alternative form of treatment. During this presen
 tation\, the most common menopausal symptoms will be reviewed along with t
 he cognitive and behavioural strategies that have been tailored to meet th
