DESCRIPTION:\nThe 9th Annual Canadian National Perinatal Research Meeting\n
 The Women's Health Research Cluster's Perinatal Mental Health Working Grou
 p\, led by Dr. Nichole Fairbrother and Dr. Lianne Tomfohr-Madsen\, is orga
 nizing the first ever conference day in Canada on perinatal mental health.
  Until 2022\, there has not been a place for academics to gather and discu
 ss research focused on advancing the mental health of perinatal people. F

 lth researchers\, or learning more about perinatal mental health research\

 2 Canadian National Perinatal Research Meeting will host three excellent p
 lenary speakers.\nKeynote Speakers:\n\n\n\n\nMay 30\, 2022\nDr. Gabrielle 
 Conti will present on The Economics of the Developmental Origins of Heal
 th and the Lifecourse Impacts of Early Interventions\n\nDr. Conti is a Pro
 fessor of Economics in the Department of Economics and in the Social Resea
 rch Institute at University College London\; and Research Fellow at the In
 stitute for Fiscal Studies\, at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (C
 EPR) and at IZA Bonn. She is also Associate Editor at the Journal of Healt
 h Economics (the top journal in health economics)\, Trustee at the Foundat
 ion Years Information and Research\, and scientific adviser of the Lancet 
 Commission for Gender-Based Violence and Maltreatment of Young People.\n\n
 Her research areas of interest are health economics\, the economics of hum
 an development\, and biology and economics. Dr. Conti holds a PhD in Econo
 mics from the University of Essex. Prior to joining UCL\, she was a Post-D
 octoral Scholar (under the mentorship of Nobel Prize Winner James Heckman)
  and then an Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago.\n\n\n\nJune
  1\, 2022\nDr. Koji Hase (Keio University) will speak about how Maternal
  Gut Microbiota Regulates Offspring Metabolic Phenotype.\n\nDr. Hase is a 
 Professor of Division of Biochemistry at Faculty of Pharmacy and Graduate 
 School of Pharmaceutical Science\, Keio University\, Japan. He has experti
 se in mucosal immunology and host-microbe interaction. He and his colleagu
 es revealed that a commensal bacteria-derived metabolite promote colonic T
 reg differentiation. Furthermore\, his group also found that maternal micr
 obiota play a critical role in embryonic development and disease susceptib
 ility late in life. He has been awarded by multiple prizes\, such as Japan
 ese Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) prize (2016) and The 23th 
 Japanese Society for Immunology Award (FY2020).\n\n\n\nJune 3\, 2022\nDr. 
 Jennifer Leason (University of Calgary) will discuss Indigenous Perinatal
  Health: Strengths\, Gaps and Future Directions.\n\nBoozhoo\, Aniin Keesis
  Sagay Egette Kwe nindiznikaaz (greetings\, my name is First Shining Rays 
 of Sunlight Woman). Dr. Jennifer Leason is an off-reserve member of Pine C
 reek Indian Band\, Manitoba and the proud mother of Lucas and Lucy. Dr. Le
 ason is a Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR)\, Canada Research C
 hair\, Tier II\, Indigenous Maternal Child Wellness and an Associate Profe
 ssor at the University of Calgary. Dr. Leason is an Associate Member of th
 e CIHR College of Reviewers and Associate Editor of the Canadian Journal o
 f Public Health. She is the recipient of a CIHR New Investigator Award (20
 17-2020)\; New Frontiers in Research Fund Award (2019-2021)\; and CIHR Ope
 rating Grant (2020-2023)\, among other Patient Oriented Research grants an
 d partnerships. Her research aims to address perinatal and maternal-child 
 health disparities and inequities by examining maternity experiences\, hea
 lthcare utilization\, and social-cultural contexts of Indigenous maternal 
 child wellness. Dr. Leason serves as an Associate Member of the CIHR Colle
 ge of Reviewers\; CIHR Institute of Indigenous Peoples Health\, Institute 
 Advisory Board\; PHAC Canadian Perinatal Surveillance System- External Adv
 isory Committee\; and Canadian Journal of Public Health.\n\n\n\nThemes Inc
