SUMMARY:Speak Up!: Building a Respectful and Inclusive Workplace
DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\n\nThis workshop is brought to you by the Justice\, Equ
 ity\, Diversity and Inclusion Health Cluster Alliance\, which is comprised
  of 12 research excellence clusters who contribute to health research. Th
 e goal of this Alliance is to develop the inclusion skills of our member
 s. As such\, we've partnerd with the University of British Columbia's Equ
 ity &amp\; Inclusion Office to facilitate this inaugural event. Although 
 the UBC community will be a focal point of conversation for this event th
 e skills and lessons conveyed within the workshop will translate to commu
 nities beyond UBC. We welcome anyone interested in learning how to foster 
 an inclusive and respectful working environment to attend.\nEvent Descript
 ion\nInterested to learn how to build an inclusive and respectful working 
 environment? Curious about what to say when somebody makes an inappropriat
 e comment? Want to know how to handle situations that are embarrassing at 
 work? In this workshop\, attendees will learn about what makes a respectfu
 l community. This workshop builds on an intersectional approach to identit
 ies and experiences that shape how people show up at work\, and explores c
 hallenges to inclusion by focusing on microaggressions and the impact the
 y can have on workplace culture. Participants will have the opportunity le
 arn how to challenge these instances as an Active Bystander/Upstander. All
  of these skills are important for fostering a respectful inclusive commun
 ity.\n\n&nbsp\;
