 ence (IPV) may have also suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI)? Yet to d
 ate\, there’s very little research or public awareness on the issue\nWat
 ch “When Love Hurts: Exploring the intersection of intimate partner viol
 ence and traumatic brain injury” webinar and then join us for a live Q&a
 mp\;A session.\nThis presentation explores the intersection of TBI in IPV\
 , and highlights an innovative\, community-engaged research initiative wor
 king to develop better supports and services for survivors.\nPresenters\nD
 r. Paul van Donkelaar is Co-founder and Principal Investigator for SOAR 
 (Supporting Survivors of Abuse and Brain Injury through Research) and a P
 rofessor in the School of Health and Exercise Sciences at the University o
 f British Columbia's Okanagan campus in Kelowna\, British Columbia. His re
 search focusses on the basic mechanisms of sensorimotor control and the ce
 rebrovascular\, neurocognitive\, and sensorimotor aspects of brain dysfunc
 tion resulting from traumatic brain injury (TBI). Since 2016\, he has been
  working to understand brain dysfunction in women who have experienced int
 imate partner violence-related TBI in collaboration with Kelowna Women’s
  Shelter through the SOAR Project.\n\nKaren Mason is Co-founder and Direc
 tor of Community Practice for SOAR (Supporting Survivors of Abuse and Bra
 in Injury through Research) and former Executive Director of Kelowna Wome
 n’ Shelter in British Columbia. Kelowna Women’s Shelter provides emerg
 ency and transitional housing\, supported second stage housing\, counselli
 ng support\, advocacy\, and prevention education to women\, and women with
  children who have experienced gender-based violence. In collaboration wit
 h the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus\, the Shelter is 
 engaged in the community-based SOAR research project to better understand 
 the intersection of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and intimate partner viol
 ence (IPV).\n\n&nbsp\;
