I am currently doing my PhD at the University of Melbourne under Prof Sarah Whittle. My research is focused on how pubertal hormones influence neurobiological mechanisms underlying emotional regulation in adolescent females. Particularly, I aim to explore how increases in oestradiol and variability in oestradiol and progesterone across a month relate to brain development and emotional regulation. I employ advanced neuroimaging techniques such as structural, diffusion-weighted and functional (both task-based and resting-state) brain MRI, integrated with multimodality imaging analysis within a machine learning framework. This comprehensive approach will allow me to investigate the complex relationships between hormone levels, brain development, and emotional regulation. These findings may inform targeted interventions to address the heightened vulnerability to mental health disorders in adolescent females. Specifically, this research could influence the development of gender-specific interventions and educational programs that improve emotional well-being in young women.
