Our Strategic Partners
We are committed to fostering impactful collaborations with organizations that share our mission to advance sex and gender health equity. Together, we create systemic change through innovative research, capacity building, knowledge sharing and advocacy. We are proud to highlight our key partners, whose contributions help us push the boundaries of women’s health.
The Centre for Addictions and Mental Health (CAMH)
We are proud to announce our close alliance with CAMH and their womenmind™ initiative, a groundbreaking effort that unites philanthropists and scientists in closing the gender gap in science. Together with CAMH, we are opening doors to new partnerships, systemic changes, and innovative research opportunities that advance the health and well-being of women and girls worldwide. Most recently, we worked with womenmind on their conference Planning Committee to shape impactful conversations on women’s mental health.
The Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Collaborative (CPMHC)
The CPMHC is a vital force in advocating for a national perinatal mental health strategy in Canada. We work closely with them through our Perinatal Mental Health Working Group to raise awareness about the importance of mental health during the perinatal period. Their advocacy, and community building efforts are transforming perinatal mental health care across the country. Visit their website to learn how you can take action.
The Institute for Gender and Health’s (IGH) Trainee Network
The IGH Trainee Network connects early-career researchers across Canada, building capacity in sex- and gender-based analysis through mentorship and collaborative learning opportunities. Through our long-standing relationship with this network, we have co-hosted trainee mentorship sessions, received funding for student awards, and collaborated on Trainee Research Presentations. These initiatives help to bridge the gap between early-career researchers and leading experts, fostering a future generation committed to advancing women’s health research.
The Women’s Health Research Institute (WHRI)
The WHRI is a leading academic research center in British Columbia, dedicated to advancing the health of women and their families through knowledge generation and innovative research. They have been an integral partner in supporting our knowledge exchange and capacity-building initiatives. For example, we’ve collaborated on a joint Trainee Research Presentation, which empowers early-career researchers to showcase their work on women’s health. Their Executive Director also sits on our leadership team, guiding our mission toward greater impact.
The Partnership for Women’s Health Research Canada (PWHR)
PWHR is a network of institutions dedicated to advancing health equity and excellence for women, trans, and non-binary people through multidisciplinary research. We’ve collaborated to provide a platform for trainees to share their groundbreaking research with a multidisciplinary audience by co-hosting the Women’s+ Health Trainee Research Conference. We continue to celebrate the important work they do to drive women’s health forward, and encourage you to as well.
The Canadian Organization for Gender and Sex Research (COGS)
COGS is an initiative dedicated to advancing sex and gender science through transdisciplinary collaboration and cutting-edge research. As a sponsor of COGS’s two most recent international conferences, the WHRC plays a key role in forging new perspectives on sex and gender in science. Members of our leadership teams are also close allies who regularly draw on one another’s expertise to raise awareness about sex gender-based research.
The Organization for the Study of Sex Differences (OSSD)
The Organization for the Study of Sex Differences (OSSD) advances research on sex and gender differences, promotes health applications, and supports education and outreach. Through its annual meeting, journal Biology of Sex Differences, and diverse collaborations, OSSD drives progress in the field. Since 2022, we have proudly sponsored their annual conference to support this mission.
Our Supporters
We are deeply grateful to the sponsors and donors whose generous support has been instrumental in transforming the WHRC from a small local initiative into an international network spanning 32 countries, with over 750 members. Their support enables us to drive groundbreaking research, foster the next generation of women’s health leaders, and create systemic change.
Thanks to the Generosity of our Sponsors
- We’ve expanded from a Vancouver-based project to a global network, facilitating international collaborations, empowering young professionals, and accelerating advancements in women’s health research across diverse communities.
- We’ve awarded over $30,000 to more than 140 trainees, providing them with crucial opportunities to attend global conferences, present groundbreaking research, and gain mentorship from leaders in the field—paving the way for the next generation of innovators in women’s health.
- We’ve conducted vital research on health funding trends, analyzing support for female-specific health issues and LGBTQ+ projects, as well as the integration of sex and gender-based analysis (SGBA) in academic papers. This work laid the foundation for our systems change efforts and influenced major journals, like Nature, to improve their SGBA practices.
