Lainey Cote
Hi! My name is Lainey, and I am a Neuroscience major at the University of Southern California with a minor in the Science and Management of Biomedical Therapeutics. I currently work as a Medical Assistant at Colin Wellness, an OB/GYN practice, where I conduct patient intakes, prepare and groom charts, perform phlebotomy and administer intramuscular injections, plate and process in-office samples and swabs, and support many other aspects of patient care. While working in a practice dedicated to attentive and patient-centered care, I have become increasingly aware of the broader challenges many women face in receiving timely diagnoses and comprehensive treatment.
Working directly with patients has shown me how frequently women’s health concerns, particularly conditions such as endometriosis, hormonal disorders, and menopause-related symptoms, are misunderstood and often underdiagnosed or dismissed. I am especially interested in how limitations in insurance coverage and research representation can delay diagnosis and prevent patients from receiving comprehensive care. These experiences have motivated me to become involved in women’s health advocacy to improve awareness and access to care.
Beyond my clinical work, I have been involved in public health education and harm-reduction initiatives, training peers in overdose prevention and distributing naloxone and fentanyl test strips through Team Awareness Combating Overdose (TACO) Inc. I am passionate about patient education and believe that expanding access to reliable health information and preventative resources is essential to improving public health outcomes.
