Deborah Baiden
Deborah Baiden is a registered nurse with BSc Nursing degree from the University of Ghana, West Africa, and a MSc. Nursing degree from Western University, Ontario. Deborah decided to do her PhD at U of T because of the privilege of enriching her knowledge and experiences under the tutelage of experts. Additionally, the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing has outstanding nurse scientists as faculty members to provide this training. Her supervisor is Dr. Monica Parry, an outstanding nurse scientist in women’s heart research.
Currently, Deborah is a fifth year PhD Nursing candidate at the University of Toronto. Her doctoral research is patient-oriented and seeks to advance knowledge on the cardiovascular health of women of African descent in Canada with a history of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. Deborah’s research interests are focused on women of African descent in Canada and equity in healthcare programs and policies. Her long-term career goals are to be a nursing professor and nurse researcher, molding excellent and compassionate future nurses and contributing to evidence-informed nursing practice.
