Patricia Silveyra

Patricia Silveyra, PhD, MSc is Professor and Chair of the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health at the Indiana University School of Public Health Bloomington. Her research investigates sex differences in lung health, with a particular focus on the role of sex hormones and their receptors in mechanisms of lung inflammation. Using both in vivo and in vitro models, her laboratory examines how environmental exposures including air pollutants, allergens, and vaping products affect the healthy and diseased lung. Her work emphasizes the importance of sex as a biological variable and the influence of gonadal hormones in respiratory outcomes.
