Rising Researcher Advancing Women’s Brain Health: Dr. Pia Campagna Receives Elizabeth Young New Investigator Award

Dr. Pia Campagna, Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and a member of the Women’s Health Research Cluster, has been named a recipient of the Elizabeth Young New Investigator Award by the Organization for the Study of Sex Differences (OSSD). This award recognizes promising early-career researchers advancing innovative research on sex and gender differences in health and disease.
Dr. Campagna’s work explores the biological factors that shape women’s brain health, with a particular focus on menopause and brain aging. Her award-winning project, “Multi-Omic Signatures Linking Menopause Timing to Human Brain Aging,” integrates multiple layers of biological data to examine how the timing of menopause relates to molecular changes in the aging female brain. This research addresses an important gap in our understanding of how menopause influences brain aging and may help inform more personalized approaches to supporting healthy aging in women.
Dr. Campagna’s recognition reflects the important research being led by members of the Women’s Health Research Cluster. Her work highlights the need to consider female-specific factors in health research and advances our understanding of women’s brain health across the lifespan.
