Advancing Women’s Mental Health: Dr. Simone Vigod Appointed Family Chair of Psychiatry

Dr Simone Vigod, WHRC member and senior scientist at Women’s College Hospital was recently named Labatt Family Chair of Psychiatry at The University of Toronto. 

Dr. Vigod’s research aims to address disparities in health and health care for individuals with psychiatric disorders, with a specific focus on women across the lifespan and on equity in access to treatment for diverse populations. She is a strong advocate for quality of care at the provincial and national level and aims to develop and evaluate innovative interventions to improve care for women with mental illness. Dr. Vigod is also a global leader in perinatal mental health & research, and will be continuing her clinical care & research at The Women’s College Hospital.
