Dr Alexis E. Cullen is a Principal Researcher in Psychiatric Epidemiology at the Karolinska Institutet (Sweden) and a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London (UK). Her interdisciplinary research focuses on the aetiological mechanisms underlying psychotic disorders and long-term outcomes for people with these disorders. She has expertise in women’s health and has led evidence synthesis projects investigating risk factors for postpartum psychosis, menstrual exacerbation of psychotic disorders, the prevalence of premenstrual dysphoric disorders (PMDD), and associations between menopause and psychiatric disorders. She has recently received funding to conduct a 3-year project in Sweden called MEMPHIS (Managing Equity in Menopausal and Perimenopausal Healthcare in Sweden) which will investigate temporal trends and potential inequalities in the diagnosis, occupational burden, and pharmacological treatment of menopausal and perimenopausal disorders.
