Aliza Hussain

Aliza Hussain is a medical student at the University of Lancashire with research interests in women’s health, particularly gender disparities in clinical medicine and mental healthcare. She has been involved in research including observational clinical studies and clinical audit work. She has authored a narrative review on gender bias in psychiatric diagnosis, which received the best poster prize at the 2026 RCPsych UK Women’s Mental Health Special Interest Group conference. She is particularly interested in perinatal mental health, given its significant impact on maternal and infant outcomes, and focuses on how clinical, biological, and social factors, alongside variations in care, equity, and principles of obstetric justice, influence diagnostic practices and patient outcomes.
