Ashley Benge

Driven by a deep interest in the human body and its complexities, I hold a BSc in Kinesiology, Exercise & Sports Science, Psychology, and Biology from the U.S. and I further honed this passion with an MSc in Human Anatomy from University College Cork (2022), leading me to my current role as a Senior Technical Officer in the Department of Anatomy & Neuroscience at UCC.

In this role, I oversee the FLAME Lab and contribute to the Anatomical Donation Program, supporting anatomy education across multiple disciplines. Teaching and mentoring students in anatomy has deepened my appreciation for the critical role that education and research play in advancing healthcare.

Now, as a PhD researcher in Women’s Health, I am exploring the intricate connections between inflammation, the microbiome, and hormonal health, particularly in conditions like endometriosis and menopause. I am passionate about bridging research and real-world impact, ensuring that scientific advancements translate into meaningful improvements in women’s well-being. I hope to create a reasearch Map of womens health research hubs and create a womens health research clinic.
