Ashlinn Pennell

Ashlinn completed a joint honours B.A. in Psychology and Religious Studies at Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador in 2025, where she gained diverse research experience across psychology, religious studies, and medicine. Her honours thesis examined the prevalence and predictors of a lesser-known manifestation of obsessive–compulsive disorder, commonly referred to as “Schizophrenia OCD.” Under the supervision of Dr. Ashley Balsom, her master’s research focuses on weight stigma as a barrier to accessing fertility treatment, with particular attention to public attitudes and healthcare practitioners’ perspectives. Her research interests include anxiety and related disorders, women’s health, adverse childhood experiences, and the promotion of accessible and equitable healthcare for marginalized communities.
