Beulah Suleman is a PhD Sociology of Health student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She holds a bachelor’s degree in social studies from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife as well as a master’s degree in social studies from Kogi State University, Nigeria. Broadly, her research interests cut across social inequality and population health. She examines disparities related to race, gender and socioeconomic status in access to healthcare among minority populations in the United States. Beulah’s work is inspired by her previous experiences working as a program officer with a non-profit organization in Nigeria, where she led interventions that focused on improving the health and education outcomes of women and girls in Nigeria. Between 2021 and 2023, She implemented a prematurity awareness and prevention program which significantly improved the health outcomes of small and sick newborns and their preterm mothers, especially those from internally displaced persons camps and rural communities in Abuja, Nigeria.
