Jenalyn Ormita

Jenalyn (she/her) is a PhD student in Psychology at the University of Toronto and a Research Associate at The Immigrant Education Society Centre for Immigrant Research. Her PhD research focuses on the aging experiences of African immigrant women in Canada, including an exploration of their risk and resilience factors for Alzheimer’s disease. Overall, Jenalyn is interested in researching the biopsychosocial experiences of marginalized communities whilst considering sex and gender, race, immigrant status, and various intersections. She is a recipient of numerous prestigious awards, such as the Canadian Graduate Scholarship – Master’s Award (CGS-M) and the Sir James Lougheed Award of Distinction, demonstrating her potential as an intersectional women’s health researcher.
