Jennifer Williams
Jennifer Williams (she/her) is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto studying clinical cardiovascular physiology. Her research focuses on improving heart and artery health outcomes through lifestyle interventions (diet, exercise) in pre- and post-menopausal women who are at high risk of developing cardiometabolic diseases. She is also studying the effects of aromatase inhibitors – a form of endocrine therapy that decreases sex hormone levels – on cardio- and cerebrovascular outcomes in breast cancer survivors. Dr. Williams’ research is supported by CIHR and the Cancer Research Society, and her fellowship is funded by CIHR. Outside of the lab, Jennifer is very involved in working with organizations that support women researchers including Women in Science and Engineering initiative and Soapbox Science. She is also one of the trainee leads at U of T for the CIHR Institute for Gender and Health, and actively engages with students on study design and methodology when considering the integration of sex and/or gender into research.
Jennifer is also an incoming Faculty member at Wilfrid Laurier University in Kinesiology, focusing on women’s cardiovascular physiology and health research; if you are interested in learning more about her research or joining her lab as a graduate student, please email her at jenniferwilliams@wlu.ca
