Jordyn M. Cox

Jordyn is a first-year Master’s student in Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine awarded a CIHR CGS-M award at the University of Alberta. Working under the supervision of Dr.Taniya Nagpal, Jordyn is passionate about understanding health stigma from lived experiences in pregnancy especially among marginalized populations such as women of colour. Her current thesis will focus on exploring urinary incontinence-related stigma among women of colour and understanding how this may be an unspoken barrier to effective treatment options. Findings from her research can translate into Canadian healthcare practices offering patient-informed recommendations for healthcare professionals on ways to mitigate stigmas and improve accessibility to care associated with UI among racially diverse populations. Jordyn previously completed her BSc in Kinesiology (2022) alongside a research certificate while exploring relationships between pregnancy and exercise at the Program for Pregnancy and Postpartum Health.
