Sarina Wallace
Sarina aspires to advance perinatal mental health equity for Black women. She is presently a doctoral student at Virginia Commonwealth University, clinical-child concentration. Her 3 years managing a prenatal research study at Montefiore’s Pediatric Behavioral Health Integration Program in the Bronx, NY, exposed her to the additional burdens low-income Black women face during pregnancy. Her graduate research interests focus on the intersectional influences of poverty and racism on the psychological well-being of Black perinatal women. Furthermore, she is interested in studying the role of support systems and community resources on parenting outcomes. Ultimately, she aspires to inform culturally-responsive interventions for Black families.
