Kia ora! My name is Selina and I am currently a PhD Student at the University of Otago in New Zealand. I specialise in genetic research of women’s health conditions with a particular emphasis currently on polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS) and endometriosis. I focus on taking large population-level datasets of genetic variation in these conditions and assigning function to the causal genetic variants within datasets utilising both bioinformatics and zebrafish models as tools. My hope is that by understanding the genetic basis of these PMOS and endometriosis a little bit more, we can find new therapeutic targets to improve the lives of people who live with these conditions.
