Shanice Harris

I am a community leader with a background in Social Service Work and a Bachelor of Social Work. I currently serve as the Women’s Health Coordinator at CAYR Community Connections. With over eight years of experience in the non-profit sector, my work is grounded in a deep commitment to supporting Black women’s education around HIV and linkage to care, mental health, reproductive justice, and overall wellbeing.

My passion for this work is shaped by both my professional growth and lived experiences. I am dedicated to creating supportive, affirming spaces where individuals feel heard, valued, and empowered to access care and resources that meet their needs. My approach centres compassion, cultural responsiveness, and community connection,
recognizing that healing and wellness are deeply influenced by social, systemic, and structural factors.

Throughout my career, I have worked closely with communities to reduce barriers to care, advocate for equitable health systems, and uplift the voices of Black women and families. In addition to my role at CAYR, I am actively involved with several community organizations, including Women’s Hands in Women’s Health, WomenatthecentrE,
WomanACT, and other grassroots and advocacy initiatives focused on advancing health equity and gender justice.
