Tanvi Puri

I’m Tanvi Puri, a Ph.D. candidate in the Galea Lab in the Neuroscience Program at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.

Pregnancy and motherhood can have long-lasting effects on the brain which are still widely unknown. I’m interested in investigating how pregnancy, and the hormonal changes that take place during pregnancy, can affect cognition, stress resilience, and neurogenesis across different ages. My projects also investigate the changes in molecular mechanisms underlying neuroplastic changes and behavior, and I hope my research will allow us to identify possible future targets for precision medicine. I’m also passionate about science communication and teaching. At the Women’s Health Research Cluster, I work as an event and communications assistant focused on helping develop content for our website so we can effectively reach the widest possible audience. I also work with the social media committee to translate scientific talks and papers to make them more accessible for everyone!
