Tory Eisenlohr-Moul, PhD, is a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience and of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Chicago (as of July 1, 2026), where she directs the CLEAR Lab. The lab uses experimental hormone manipulations in mechanistic RCTs to test causal effects of ovarian hormone change on mood, cognition, suicidality, and substance use in hormone-sensitive psychiatric patients, with pharmacologic fMRI and GC-MS steroids as secondary mechanistic assays. The menstrual cycle is her primary model, with secondary projects spanning puberty, pregnancy, and menopause. She has held numerous NIH awards (K99/R00, three R01s, one R21, and co-I/consultant roles on many more). She is a licensed clinical psychologist and provides tertiary care to patients with severe psychiatric symptoms related to the menstrual cycle.
