Andrea Parra
Hi! My name is Andrea and I recently graduated with a degree in Nanotechnology Engineering and a Computing Option from the University of Waterloo. I am passionate about biomedical technology development and machine learning and AI modelling for process optimization. I have collaborated with multiple research teams across diverse engineering fields, including biosensing, optics, and automation. One project I am particularly proud of involved designing and developing a cost-effective, user-friendly electrochemical biosensor to advance personalized medicine for depression treatment. This biosensor was designed to detect gene mutations that influence patients’ responses to commonly prescribed antidepressants. Presenting this innovation to potential users and receiving their feedback was an incredibly rewarding experience.
