Andrew D’Souza

Andrew D’Souza is a postdoctoral research fellow at The University of Alberta. His doctoral work focused on the impact of biological sex, gonadal aging, and sex hormones on the sympathetic neural regulation of blood pressure.  His current research is comprised of both basic and clinical work. The basic arm seeks to better understand whether sex-specific differences in the pulmonary system contribute to the greater prevalence of fainting in women. The clinical arm is focused on the evaluating whether vascular (dys)function is a primary mediator of breathlessness and exercise intolerance among patients with systemic sclerosis (a condition that primarily affects women).
