Elsie Obeng-Kingsley
Elsie (she/her) is a registered social worker and a doctoral student at the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
Elsie is committed to Black feminist, anti-racist and decolonial praxis-centered approaches, and uses critical qualitative and arts-based research methodologies to explore the way structural, intersecting oppressions impact Black women’s health.
Her doctoral research is focused on investigating the unique ways institutional misogynoir (i.e. anti-Black racist misogyny) is entrenched in social work professional settings and to explore how this structural violence impacts the occupational and personal health and wellbeing of Black women social workers.
