Angela Dawson
Angela Dawson is a Professor of Public Health, and nationally and internationally recognised expert in maternal and reproductive health and the Associate Dean of Research in the Faculty of Health, UTS. She leads the reproductive theme in the Women and Children’s Health Collaborative at INSIGHT, the UTS Research Institute she established in 2023 that seeks multidisciplinary solutions to complex issues. She has a strong track record of applied research health services, health promotion, and prevention research for under-served populations. She currently leads the Health in a New Home NHMRC Ideas grant and Department of Health and Aging grant special Funding Public Health and Chronic Disease Program focused on refugee populations. CI-Dawson has also undertaken research with vulnerable communities affected by humanitarian emergencies funded by the WHO and large international non-government agencies. Her research on the harmful cultural practice of female genital mutilation has attracted a prestigious NHMRC Trip fellowship and led to international collaborations.
