Bernard Le Foll

Dr Bernard Le Foll, MD PhD MCFP (AM), is a clinician scientist specialized in drug addiction. He did specialized training in addiction and cognitive behavioural therapy in France. He obtained a PhD in Pharmacology at University of Paris Sud in France and has performed post-doctoral training in behavioral pharmacology and brain imaging within the intra-mural program of the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Bernard Le Foll is senior scientist within the Institute for Mental Health Policy Research at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). Additionally, Dr. Le Foll is Chair of addiction psychiatry within the Department of Psychiatry of University of Toronto and a professor in the departments of Family and Community Medicine, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Psychiatry, Institute of Medical Sciences and the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. He is also Vice-President Research and Academics and Chief Scientific Officer of the Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care. Dr. Le Foll is a francophone and is a member of the CIHR governing Council.His multi-disciplinary research approach seeks to better understand addiction and develop novel therapeutic strategies. He has published more than 300 peer reviewed publications and obtained more than 100 grants. He has held various medical leadership roles at CAMH. He has been advisors for multiple agencies, has developed clinical guidelines, been involved in policy and has been invited to speak at Senate and House of Communs on addiction related issues.
