Laura Fitzgibbon-Collins

Laura Fitzgibbon-Collins (she/her) completed her PhD at the University of Waterloo in cerebrovascular hemodynamics, postural stability, gait dynamics, and falls in older adults. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Western University in the Department of Medicine and funded by the Alzheimer Society of Canada. Her research focuses on how brain blood flow affects walking, balance, and cognition in people living with cognitive impairment (e.g. dementia). Laura’s work focuses on sex-differences in cerebrovascular hemodynamics and she studies how and why accelerated changes of the arteries impact brain blood flow and the brain’s ability to function.

Laura is an incoming faculty member in the School of Kinesiology at Western University, where her research centers on cerebrovascular physiology and women’s health.
