Sol Vidal Almela

Sol is an emerging research leader in the fields of clinical exercise physiology, cardiac rehabilitation (CR), and sex and gender considerations. She has published over 20 manuscripts with co-authors from more than 10 countries. Her novel work has significantly benefited the cardiovascular disease and CR communities. For instance, five of her publications demonstrate the effectiveness of alternative forms of exercise training (e.g., high-intensity interval training [HIIT], Nordic walking, dance-based HIIT) in CR; six address sex- and gender-based differences, a research priority area; and three provide practical exercise prescription recommendations for healthcare practitioners and patients. Currently, Sol works as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Granada in Spain. Her research program aims to guide changes in exercise recommendations for females and males with cardiovascular disease, with the long-term goal of improving the uptake of CR and finding the optimal exercise training dose to enhance the health and quality of life of patients.
