Toktam Movassagh

Toktam is an incoming medical student at UBC, having graduated from UBC in 2023 with a major in Biology and a minor in Health and Society. She has worked in the Berman Lab on public health projects related to COVID-19 decision-making in BC and in the Bamji Lab on neuroscience research studying myelin-affected neurological models. Toktam served as Vice President of Young Women for STEM at UBC and has a deep passion for making a meaningful impact in support of communities that have been and are currently systematically marginalized. She is dedicated to addressing and reconciling inequities within our healthcare systems and supporting other women in STEM by promoting equality and inclusiveness in the field. Within STEM fields, she is interested in physiological, cellular and morphological aspects of the nervous system development and organization. Outside of academia, Toktam enjoys acrylic painting, playing music, creative writing, and hiking in the beautiful mountains of BC.
